2026
The Solihull Choir Festival 2026 was another fantastic celebration of music, bringing together singers, audiences and supporters for a memorable week of performances.
While the festival continues to showcase the wealth of musical talent within Solihull, we were delighted to welcome an increasing number of choirs from further afield. Alongside local ensembles, choirs travelled from Birmingham, Kenilworth and Leamington Spa to take part, reflecting the festival's growing reputation and the warm, welcoming atmosphere for which it has become known.
The festival was officially opened by the Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Sardul Singh Marwa MBE JP, whose attendance marked the beginning of another successful celebration of community music. Throughout the festival, audiences enjoyed outstanding performances from choirs of all ages, complemented by inspiring guest appearances from the exceptional Full Fatt Sound and Crescendo.
A particular highlight was the Community Singalong, held on Saturday in celebration of Armed Forces Day. We were delighted to welcome Solihull favourites, The Boogaloo Babes, whose surprise performance of vintage vocal harmony classics added a wonderful sense of occasion to the afternoon. DDay Darlings Voices Choir also joined West End Voices for a memorable performance of much-loved classics, including Orange Coloured Sky and Bridge Over Troubled Water.

Alongside the performances, this year's workshop programme offered participants the opportunity to develop new skills and explore different musical styles. Workshops included Introduction to Opera, Performance Signing, Introduction to A Cappella and Performance Skills. Audiences were also treated to a captivating soundscape performance by participants in Yula Andrews' Improvising Harmony Workshop, showcasing the creativity and collaboration inspired during the sessions.
This year's festival was accompanied by exceptionally warm summer weather, with temperatures reaching levels that required a small change to our plans. To ensure the wellbeing of our younger performers, Friday's programme of schools and youth choirs was moved indoors, providing a cooler and more comfortable environment for everyone involved. Although the venue changed, the enthusiasm, energy and quality of the performances remained as strong as ever, and the choirs adapted brilliantly.
In total, we welcomed 1,262 singers to our 2026 festival!
We would like to thank every choir, musical director, accompanist, volunteer, sponsor and audience member who helped make the 2026 festival such a success. Their continued support and enthusiasm ensure that the Solihull Choir Festival remains a vibrant celebration of music, community and friendship!
